METCALFE FAIR SHEEP SHOW

All sheep must be unloaded between 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. and reloaded at the East End of the Hicks Insurance Show Pavilion.

A $10.00 membership fee must accompany all entries unless retained from last year's prize moneyAll entries must be received by Tuesday, September 24, 2024, to the Metcalfe Agricultural Society, P.O. Box 29, Metcalfe, Ontario, K0A 2P0, or online (see above). Gate admission wristbands will be mailed for all entries received by September 24th. If entries received after that date, gate admission applies.
1. No livestock will be allowed entry to the Fairgrounds unless they possess the approved (intact and undamaged) CFIA tag.
2. In making entries, the owner's name and address in full, the birth date of the animal, its name, registration number, names and registration numbers of sire and dam, must be given on the entry sheet, as well as proof of liability insurance of at least $2,000,000.00.
3. All purebred animals must be registered in the name of the exhibitor on or before the closing date of entries, and registration numbers must be included on the entry form or the entry will be refused. In cases of animals being transferred, the date appearing on the registration paper will be the governing date.
4. An administration fee of 25% will be deducted from prize money earned.
5. Classes 23 to 26 must show in short fleece less than 1 inch staple.
6. An exhibitor may show a maximum of 6 head per breed and a maximum of 3 in any one section for individual animals.
7. Any animals showing evidence of contagious disease will be removed from the sheep barn and sheep show at the request of the Metcalfe Fair sheep committee. If these animals are deemed eligible for the show by a veterinarian, (on the day of the show at the owner's expense) these animals will be allowed to be shown. All sheep must bear approved CLIA identification tags.
8. The sheep committee retains the right to combine breed classes together to show in the AOB class, if numbers warrant.
9. All entries must be shown to receive prize money.
10. Exhibitors must follow dress code for single classes - black pants and white shirt.
Special Note: Judging will commence at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 4, 2024.

29. BREED DISPLAY
Displays shall consist of:
a) Pen of 2 sheep of same purebred breed.
b) Information of the breed (i.e., history, characteristics and qualities.)
c) Judged on presentation, information and attractiveness.
d) Open show exhibitors may use animals on display in open show, but exhibitors do not have to compete in open show to compete in display show.
Prizes: 1st: $100, 2nd: $75, 3rd: $50, 4th: $25, 5th: $25
